Reviews:

This is another exemplary wine from Upper Bench’s consistently good lineup of new winter-spring releases. They’re clearly on a roll, and I just wish this boutique winery could produce enough to supply all of Canada. The 2013 merlot, designated “Four Shadows Vineyard,” delivers the rich smoothness that is the grape’s hallmark, yet with the sort of firm and elegant structure not always evident in New World merlots. Full-bodied, with ripe dark-fruit, chocolate and tobacco notes, it’s pulled together by gently grainy tannins and attractive acidity. Marvellous for juicy, medium-rare red meats.

Why We're Drinking It:

Winemaker Gavin Miller believes great wine is grown in the vineyard.  Upper Bench’s hand-tended vines are meticulously farmed without the use of chemicals or pesticides.  Upper Bench produces award winning big bold reds and crisp, dry whites that reflect the vintage and soil from the vineyards where they are grown. Upper Bench’s grapes are sourced from our own seven acre Estate vineyard and select growers along the famous Naramata Bench in the South Okanagan of British Columbia, Canada.
From our vineyards to your glass, we invite you to taste our passion!

Tasting Notes:

A dark red wine with aromas of bing black cherry on the nose infused with Swiss chocolate and tobacco.  Rich, lush tannins on the palate are accompanied by the flavours of dark plum, dark molasses, and leather.  Captivating now with the longevity to age.
